SaferAfrica often engages with police departments towards improving their service delivery and enhancing their law enforcement capabilities. The modality for engagement is one of partnership whereby SaferAfrica works in conjunction with the police department in the formulation of an appropriate research methodology. Thereafter, in collaboration with the police department, SaferAfrica engages in the information gathering and analysis process. For this purpose, a range of different methods are utilized. In most cases a variation of the SWOT analysis is incorporated into a workshop, while in others instances quantitative law enforcement surveys are utilized to complement the workshop findings. Some of the requests previously directed to SaferAfrica include assistance in establishing the modalities for a national crime information centre and assistance in developing the capacity of a Forensic Science Laboratory.
