The Arms Management and Disarmament Sub-programme at SaferAfrica deals with all initiatives relating to the improved management, resolution and prevention of SALW, ERW, mines and explosives related problems. Focused primarily on African processes, we also have arms related operations in Latin America. The intention of the programme is to assist with the implementation of agreed initiatives on SALW, ERW, mines and explosives. High priority is awarded to assisting National Focal Points or National Commission on SALW to develop, and implement, their National Action Plans on SALW, assisting regional secretariats on arms with the implementation of their regional SALW programmes and support the African Union on the implementation of the African Common Position of SALW. These processes are complementary, and in support of their implementation we provide capacity building of key role player and technical assistance.

The Arms Management and Disarmament Sub-programme also assists in the development of practical implementation of the UNPOA and any regional and sub-regional agreement or initiative following the same goals. The operations of the Arms Management and Disarmament Sub-programme focus primarily on policy facilitation and formulation, generation of action programmes for implementation of existing policy, stockpile management, capacity building of international secretariats and of national entities, training of police and of NGOs as implementing agencies, and management of entire national conferences on small arms issues.

The Arms Management Programme is divided into the following areas:
