Strengthening National Democratic Processes
This programme focuses on an integrated approach to strengthening democratic institutions, including capacity building and dialogue activities with the full participation of key stakeholders. The programme works at the national level to support democratic structures such as parliaments, political parties and civil society by providing technical assistance, particularly in states engaged in post conflict reconstruction and development. The programme will focus on Angola for the period 2006-2009.Capacity Building of Key Stakeholders on Electoral Processes in Angola
As a follow up to the successful training of members of the PNASCAE, officials from the National Electoral Commission (CNE) and the Ministry of Territorial Administration, training for officials from political parties is envisaged to further improve the professionalism of the forthcoming presidential and legislative elections. Political parties are key actors in the electoral processes and their understanding of the electoral process can have important impact on the running and outcomes of the elections. The BRIDGE training package has specific modules on contestants and electoral administration that focus on the role of political parties in the electoral processes. The project therefore intends to enhance the knowledge of key officials in political parties who will then be in the position to further disseminate the knowledge gained within their political parties. The training will be fully documented and will be widely circulated by the political parties. [more]
