OPERATION RACHEL WINS IMPUMELELO INNOVATION AWARD

Operation Rachel has won the IMPUMELELO INNOVATION AWARD in the Criminal Justice category. The IMPUMELELO INNOVATION AWARD TRUST rewards exceptional projects, which involve partnerships with the public sector that enhance the quality of life of poor communities in innovative ways.

The Head of the SAPS Special Task Force, Director M.J Fryer and SaferAfrica's Ettienne Hennop made a final presentation of Operation Rachel to the panel of judges on the 26 November 2003 in Cape Town . The award ceremony will take place on the 6 March 2004 in Cape Town .

This award is a tremendous accolade for Operation Rachel and those who have supported it such as SaferAfrica. SaferAfrica was the sole financial sponsor of Operation Rachel IX, IX (I), and IX (II). The award serves as acknowledgement, appreciation and recognition of tremendous effort put in by the nameless operatives of both the Mozambique and South African police agencies that have carried out these operations for the last nine years.
